Some artists,......the real ones, ........have a Gift to start with but mature over the years, knowing how to move their audience to the core of their existence, teaching them the meaning of understanding.

It's no secret on this message board that I've always felt MC to be such an artist; and reading Pirate Latitudes has only confirmed it to me again, even though it's "just" an adventure novel.

The skill with which it is written moves me to tears, I'm not embarrassed to say.

I had been wondering how to express that on the message board, when my 16 year old daughter showed me the performance of an artist doing the song he sang in 1973;
and now same song, same artist in 2006, at the age of 69 as my daughter tells me.

Just look at video and see how a good artist, even when - or maybe because- he was already good to start with, adds the toppings of experience and even more insight to his oeuvre.

And don't get me wrong please I'm not comparing MC with JC, it's merely an example of how an artist gets started with a good performance and then gets even better over the years.

I enjoyed the Ted Neely JCSuperstar Gethsemane farewell performance
33 years later another JC lifetime
(I also remember all the controversy when it first premiered!)
as we enter Pascha Passover/Easter week
Remember Michael Crichton in his last suffering,
all the literature, valuable ideas and controversy he confronted and contributed
Memory Eternal
